It’s a little more complicated than that. They are not shipping goods to Wal-Mart, they are shipping goods to Wal-Mart. But their tracking system can only send a tracking image to Wal-Mart. So Wal-Mart has to send an image of the barcode to Wal-Mart’s internal system. But Wal-Mart’s system is broken so that only Wal-Mart has access to the tracking information.
This causes all sorts of problems, some of which seem to contradict the entire narrative, but all of which have to do with Wal-Marts being locked into the whole shipping industry’s “free delivery” system, which means that Wal-Mart is actually paying to have all of this tracking information sent to them, which makes Wal-Mart less likely to want to pay for it.
So, a few days after I bought my Walmart-branded Wal-Mart-branded beer, I had to go to the store to pick up my beer again. The store had to let me know that a little known “Wal-Marts” system is not working, and to take it to a Wal-Mart in the other side of town. It’s kind of like the McDonalds sign that reads, “I’m not a McDonald. I’m a happy one.
I have to admit, Wal-Mart is a bit of a pain in the ass to get to.
